The Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame is always looking to expand its ever growing list of names of potential nominees to be considered for induction. As mentioned on the home page of our site, the Hall of Fame annually inducts new members in the Entertainer, Builder and Citation categories to recognize those who, in a variety of ways, have made significant contributions to the furtherance of country music in the Ottawa Valley and Canada.  Each year, a number of different prominent members of the Ottawa Valley country music community are invited to sit on a Nominating Committee to select potential honorees for that year,  and that committee's recommendations are submitted to the Board of Directors for final approval.   The Nominating Committee's job is not an easy one, as they must comb through hundreds of documents previously submitted to the HOF, and all of the new documentation being submitted to the HOF each year.

    If you would like to suggest a name of a potential nominee into the HOF, we ask that you take a look at the guidelines and criteria that we've established in order that they qualify for induction.  After reading the information below, we ask that you provide an information package to the HOF consisting of the following:

• Picture(s) of the person/people/group

• As detailed a biography as possible, (including their place and date of birth), which outlines their contribution to Country Music within the Ottawa Valley (and/or Canada)

• As part of this package, the HOF will also accept any audio or video related to your submission.

    This package can be submitted to the attention of the HOF board of directors either by Canada Post or by email using the contact information noted at the bottom of this page.  All packages submitted to the HOF will be considered confidential, and will be retained by the HOF.  Information contained within these packages cannot be returned.

Criteria For Nomination as an Inductee (Established in 1997)

GENERAL

• All of the criteria shown below are subject to interpretation by the members sitting on the Nominating Committee in any given year.
• While it is not a defining factor, the "Ottawa Valley", in general terms, is considered to include Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. (For a more detailed description of the boundaries of the Ottawa Valley, click here .  To see a Map pertaining to the description,  click here.)

OVERALL CRITERIA FOR NOMINATION IN ANY CATEGORY

• In order to be considered for nomination, a person, duo or group must have made a significant contribution to country music in the Ottawa Valley and/or have been a native of the Ottawa Valley who has achieved recognition in the industry.
• A "significant contribution" would normally involve approximately 25 years of work.

ENTERTAINER CATEGORY (Performer/Artist)

A nominee in this category:

• must be or have been a recording artist
• could be a single, duo or group of performers who excelled and were highly recognized as leaders in the industry
• would normally be expected to have performed in front of significant audiences (live appearances, radio, television, etc.)

BUILDER CATEGORY

A nominee in this category:

• must be a person (not necessarily an entertainer or musician) who has significantly contributed to the development, promotion, establishment or production of country music in the Valley

CITATION CATEGORY

Nominees in this category must be single performers, duos or groups that:

• have excelled at their craft
• are recognized and respected as musicians or vocalists by their peers, and
• have played professionally or semi-professionally
