Inductee - CKBY Radio

On July 2,
1972, listeners in Ottawa and the Valley heard the first sounds of their
favourite music emanating from the brand new full-time country music radio
station, CKBY-FM, a sister station to CKOY.
Founded by Ted Daigle, the station
went on to become the most-listened to country music station in Canada and was
nominated several times for Radio Station of the Year by the
Canadian Country Music Association.
Names
like (the late) Ray Callahan, morning
host in the 1970's, Wayne Rostad, Music
Director during the early years, (the late) Hal
‘The Bear’ Lee and (the late) Bill Inglis,
the morning team of Willie & Hal in the 1980's, and
Doug Anderson, current Station Manager,
among many others, became well known, not only for their on-air personalities
but also for their many personal appearances at shows all across the Valley.
Fundraising played a large part in the station’s activities, and the
highly-successful eight-year radio series, "Christmas in The Valley", produced
and hosted by Wayne Rostad, led to the
release of seven very popular albums of songs performed by many local
entertainers, with the proceeds from
the sale of these albums being donated to local hospitals.
