2009 Inductee - Charlie Muldoon

Born in Beechgrove, Quebec, Charlie Muldoon’s love of country music developed at an early age when he started playing his brother’s guitar. He received his own instrument at age 12 and hasn’t looked back. In the early years, Charlie played at every Fall fair from Vankleek Hill to Shawville, Carp to Metcalfe, Navan, Kazabazua, Buckingham and Quyon with many special guests, including Orval Prophet, Hank Lariviere, Donnie Gilchrist, Gilles Roy and Buster Brown. His television appearances include CTV’s “Home Grown Café” and “Take a Bow”. He has sung on stage for CBC Radio and TV with Wayne Rostad, and he composed and called a special square dance for “Cross Canada Barn Dance” with Mac Beattie & The Melodiers. As well as being a player, Charlie has, for many years, been the “go-to guy” for organizing, producing and emceeing fiddle and step dance competitions. He has judged more than fifty of these contests all across the Ottawa Valley as well as acting as a judge for three years at the Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto. Charlie is extremely proud of his Irish heritage, and many of his activities revolve around those roots, such as the St. Patrick’s Day Post Parade Party at Lansdowne Park that he has organized for the last seven years which annually draws 1500 to 2000 people. Charlie is the proud father of seven children with his wife, Betty (who passed away in 2001) and the grandfather of twelve.
