Secretary
Elayne Carlson
Elayne became a member of the Board of Directors of The Ottawa Valley Country
Music Hall of Fame in January 1987.
In her capacity as Secretary, a
position that she has held since joining the Board, she records the minutes of
the Board's
monthly meetings, prepares the agendas and looks after the Board's correspondence.
She is also heavily involved in all of the Hall of Fame's
activities, acting as Seating/Program/Script Coordinator for the Annual Awards
Show and Induction Ceremonies, assisting with the Hall of Fame's booth in the Aberdeen Pavilion at the Central Canada
Exhibition, and helping out at fundraising events held throughout the year.
Elayne also acted as the secretary of the Host Committee for the first
two Country Music Weeks held in Ottawa in 1977 and 1981.
After 36 years, Elayne retired from the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board
(formerly the Ottawa Board of Education) in December 2000 and now devotes much
of her free time to the Hall of Fame's
activities.
Elayne has had a "vested interest" in country music, particularly as it relates to the
Ottawa Valley and Canada, having been married for over thirty years to Ralph
Carlson, who was also a member of the Board of Directors, until his untimely
passing on October 10, 2002.
